About the Job

This is a unique opportunity to join the Veterans Health Administration team as a Clinical Psychologist in the Mental Health Service Line at the VA Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a full range of psychological assessment services and diagnoses mental disorders, particularly for complex or unusually difficult patients.
  • Develop, implement, and document the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients.
  • Provide education to patients, family members, and significant others.
  • Provide consultation to professional staff within Mental Health Service and the VA generally and to community providers, concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans for patients.
  • Facilitate liaisons with other health care programs to effectively coordinate services.
  • Comply with national and local performance measures.
  • Comply with all CPRS documentation procedures, including timeliness standards for documentation and proper patient check out procedures (e.g., entering diagnostic and procedure codes).
  • Provide clinical supervision and instruction for pre-doctoral psychology interns and post-doctoral residents.
Requirements
  • Must possess a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA).
  • Must be proficient in both spoken and written English.
  • Must have a current, permanent, full and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a state, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or a territory of the United States.
