Key Responsibilities

The Echocardiography Technologist is responsible for performing non-invasive echocardiographic procedures on patients aged 16 and older. This includes:

  1. Conducting transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), including advanced techniques such as 3D and strain imaging.
  2. Performing stress echocardiograms and assisting cardiologists with transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs).
  3. Utilizing two patient identifiers to ensure accuracy and safety.
  4. Gathering comprehensive medical histories and completing necessary documentation.
  5. Executing clinical assessments and diagnostic echocardiographic examinations.
  6. Employing cognitive sonographic skills to capture and interpret relevant anatomical and pathological images.
  7. Coordinating schedules to ensure efficient workflow and timely patient care.
  8. Maintaining patient safety and comfort throughout the procedure.
  9. Documenting patient interactions and billing accurately.
  10. Adhering to lab protocols while demonstrating flexibility when clinically necessary.
  11. Completing all measurements and structured reports with precision.
  12. Ensuring ultrasound equipment and work areas are well-maintained and stocked.
  13. Fostering positive relationships with colleagues and external agencies.
  14. Participating in the training and orientation of new staff and students.
  15. Monitoring and reporting any changes in patient conditions during testing.
  16. Communicating essential patient information promptly to relevant parties.
  17. Utilizing diagnostic and communication technology efficiently and safely.
  18. Demonstrating effective prioritization of workload.
  19. Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited ultrasound program within the last three months.
  • Current AHA BLS certification.
  • ARDMS or CCI credentials in echocardiography, or the ability to obtain within one year of hire.
  • Commitment to maintaining 12 CME credits annually.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $44.19 per hour.
