Your Role and Contributions
The Patient Care Technician is responsible for delivering exceptional, patient-focused care by executing a range of assigned basic care tasks related to standard nursing duties and daily living activities. Under the guidance of a registered nurse (RN), the Nursing Support Technician aids the nursing team in providing care that aligns with their training and the needs of the department, while consistently helping to maintain a clean, organized, and safe care environment. The Nursing Support Technician must be actively enrolled and in good standing in an accredited nursing program and is capable of performing advanced procedures once competency is demonstrated.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists in the execution of nursing care plans by providing both direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Collects and documents initial and ongoing patient data throughout the care process, including vital signs, weight, blood pressure, oxygen levels, and intake/output measurements.
- Records observations, interactions, and patient responses to care activities, promptly reporting any changes to the RN or Team Leader.
- Facilitates patient mobility through regular repositioning, assisting with ambulation, and supporting the use of mobility aids. Aids in patient transfers and discharges while demonstrating proper body mechanics.
- Provides or assists with non-pharmacological support care, including non-sterile dressing changes, skin care, and the application of heat or cold therapies.
- Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited nursing program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
