Position Overview:
As a key member of ISO New England, the Lead Electrical Systems Engineer will engage in the evaluation of integrating new renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and storage into the regional power grid.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Analyze and manage dynamic system modeling data for proposed energy generation, including both traditional and inverter-based resources like wind turbines and solar panels.
2. Conduct comprehensive system impact assessments for new energy resources, focusing on steady-state, transient stability, and electromagnetic transient analysis.
3. Supervise the creation and approval of system impact studies for distributed energy resources seeking to connect to the grid.
4. Assess and validate requests for modifications to existing generation and dynamic equipment.
5. Assist in the preparation and analysis of reports related to transmission system evaluations.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Power Engineering or Electrical Engineering is essential.
- Extensive knowledge of electric power system network analysis and transmission planning techniques, particularly transient stability analysis using PSS/E.
- Senior candidates should demonstrate proficiency in applying NERC, NPCC, and Transmission Planner/Planning Coordinator reliability standards.
- Strong ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team setting with minimal oversight.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Willingness to travel for stakeholder meetings and industry conferences.

Preferred Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree in Electrical Power Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-In-Training.
- Experience in stakeholder and industry committee participation.
- Familiarity with ISO/NEPOOL tariffs, market operations, and processes.
- Knowledge of electromagnetic transient analysis (EMTP/PSCAD) and short circuit analysis (Aspen One-Liner).
