POSITION SUMMARY:

The Class A CDL Truck Operator/Warehouse Team Member plays a crucial role in supporting the operational objectives of Facing Hunger Foodbank by ensuring the timely delivery of food to individuals facing food scarcity. This position involves direct engagement with the community and partner organizations to facilitate the transportation of essential supplies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Efficiently and courteously transports food, materials, and supplies to partner agencies across the Foodbank's extensive service area.
  2. Safely and promptly loads and unloads vehicles at various locations, ensuring that all delivered items match the inventory listed on invoices.
  3. Adheres to all state and federal safety regulations related to transportation.
  4. Maintains accurate records of vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and other transportation-related documentation.
  5. Ensures the cleanliness of the vehicle upon return to the warehouse.
  6. Conducts routine inspections and light maintenance on vehicles, reporting any issues to the Warehouse Director.
  7. Immediately reports any accidents or incidents involving Foodbank vehicles to the appropriate management personnel.
  8. Assists in maintaining the cleanliness of Foodbank facilities and equipment.
  9. Responsible for organizing food and non-food items within the warehouse.
  10. Guides and supports warehouse volunteers as needed.
  11. Complies with all food safety protocols and procedures established by the Foodbank.
  12. Maintains all required Department of Transportation licenses, certifications, and medical documentation as mandated.
  13. Performs additional related duties as assigned.

REPORTS TO: Warehouse Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Commitment to the mission of the Foodbank.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse individuals, including staff, volunteers, and clients.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong work ethic and time management skills.
  • Proficient in navigation using maps and GPS.
  • Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to provide clear instructions to volunteers.
  • Professional demeanor that reflects the Foodbank's community values.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in a similar role.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Department of Transportation regulations.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
  • Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
  • Safe driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
  • Forklift and pallet jack certification or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Completion of ServSafe Food Handler Certification within three months of employment.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

Utilizes office equipment such as telephones, computers, and copy machines, as well as warehouse equipment including pallet jacks, forklifts, and inventory scanners.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This role requires regular use of hands for handling objects, as well as the ability to sit, stand, bend, and lift items weighing between 60 to 75 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work is primarily conducted in a warehouse setting, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
