- Develop and implement education opportunities for staff to improve clinical practice and quality outcomes.
- Support staff in seeking and maintaining specialty certification.
- Participate in review of unit/division dashboard and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Monitor and trend quality report data to inform action plans.
- Culture of Safety
- Plan and implement division-specific learning activities to improve safety.
- Review and update unit-based clinical policies and procedures.
- Provide input into staff evaluations related to clinical competence.
- Round on unit to coach and mentor staff.
- Evidence-Based Practice/Research
- Identify opportunities to implement evidence-based practice projects.
- Mentor and participate in nursing or inter-professional clinical research projects.
- Assist in interpreting research findings and developing strategies for implementation.
- Shared Leadership
- Attend unit-based staff meetings and shared leadership meetings.
- Participate in unit leadership meetings and clinical nurse leadership council.
- Fiscal Stewardship
- Evaluate new products and make recommendations for value-based purchasing.
- Make recommendations for improvements in clinical efficiency.
- Annual Competency/Orientation/Retention
- Lead content review and revision for unit-based orientation.
- Participate in new employee orientation and monitor progress.
- Education
- Provide informal unit-based education based on unit learning needs assessment.
- Provide formal classroom instruction and skills assessments.
- Leadership
- Advocate for patients, families, and nursing staff.
- Assume a leadership role in professional activities and organizations.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Master's in Science in Nursing or to obtain within 4 years of assuming role
- Registered Nursing license issued by the State of Illinois
- Certified in related clinical area or to obtain when eligible
- 3-5 years' experience in specific clinical area
- BLS through American Heart Association
