The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is seeking highly skilled and motivated individuals to fill the position of Tax Examination Technician. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and fairness of tax laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the examination of tax returns and investigations of alleged tax fraud
- Locate, search, and document specific information from records of individuals, corporations, banks, and other entities
- Analyze taxpayer records, third-party records, and financial data to identify trends and patterns
- Prepare, verify, and assemble work papers, schedules, and exhibits to support examination findings
- Communicate with customers, taxpayers, and other stakeholders to gather information and provide assistance
- One year of specialized experience in tax law, examination, or a related field
- Experience using automated systems, such as Accurint, FinCen, and IDRS, to research taxpayers and provide written reports
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, taxpayers, and other stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
This is a full-time position with a regular schedule, Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Alternative work schedules, including telework, may be available.
