Job Summary:

The Orthotics Technician at El Paso Children's Hospital is responsible for applying and removing casts, orthopedic splints, and devices. This role requires knowledge of orthopedic bracing, casting techniques, and fitting a variety of orthotic devices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply upper and lower extremity casts to patients
  • Modify, repair, and fit casts, splints, and braces to meet patient needs
  • Assist in stocking and ordering medical supplies
  • Communicate effectively with patients and the clinic team to ensure seamless care
  • Problem-solve and make decisions to ensure patient satisfaction and safety
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer systems and software
  • Implement aseptic techniques to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Work collaboratively as a team member to achieve departmental goals

Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in a related healthcare profession
  • Orthopedic Technologist Certification
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an approved orthopedic technology program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of orthopedic devices and casting techniques
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new ideas and procedures
  • Initiative in improving clinic operations and patient care
