Key Responsibilities
Customer Engagement:
- Provide exceptional service to all patrons by adopting a customer-first mindset and building connections.
- Proactively assess customer needs and respond accordingly.
- Address inquiries regarding menu selections.
- Encourage and suggest menu items to enhance customer experience.
- Uphold integrity, honesty, and knowledge that reflect the culture and values of Jackson College.
- Adhere to operational policies and procedures, particularly regarding cash handling and safety protocols, to ensure a secure environment for all staff.
- Maintain a tidy, organized, and well-stocked workspace for customer convenience.
- Deliver high-quality beverages and food products consistently by following established recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Comply with health, safety, and sanitation regulations for all offerings.
- Prepare and serve a range of beverages, from simple to complex.
- Process customer payments efficiently.
- Support the training of new Coffee Specialists by providing positive reinforcement and constructive feedback.
- Oversee inventory and equipment maintenance by cleaning and reporting any malfunctions to the Dining Director.
- Assess and recommend adjustments to processes to boost efficiency and service quality.
- Contribute to recipe development and menu expansion.
- Understand, support, and actively demonstrate the College's mission and values, and be prepared for evaluation based on these principles.
- Maintain composure during peak periods or unexpected events to ensure smooth operations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:
- Basic food service operations.
- Common kitchen equipment and utensils.

- Manage cash register and point of sale systems.

- Utilize effective communication skills with the public.
- Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships.
Frequent reaching, walking, standing, lifting, stooping, or carrying of equipment and materials may be necessary. Candidates may need to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical hazards, and fumes may occur.
Work Environment:
Work is typically conducted in a commercial cafeteria setting, with frequent interruptions and varying schedules. Evening and weekend hours may be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
