Job Summary

Grant Wood Area Education Agency seeks a skilled Audiologist to partner with educators, families, and communities to provide effective learning environments for all students. The ideal candidate will help ensure success for all learners by providing services necessary for the identification and diagnostic evaluation of children/students with hearing impairments and planning educational programs and services for them.

Responsibilities
  • Support total school/community efforts to create a positive learning environment for students/children.
  • Serve as liaison among AEA, district building(s), families, and community, collaborating with various teams to assure positive outcomes for all learners.
  • Model, implement, and assess strategies related to learning, social, emotional, and behavioral needs to enhance educational programming for all learners.
  • Consult with teachers and administrators regarding best practices for classroom and building educational programs.
  • Provide consultation/inservice regarding implications of hearing loss, appropriate educational interventions, and services for deaf/hard of hearing, amplification, acoustics, hearing conservation, and discipline-specific needs.
  • Identify auditory problems in pediatric/student populations served, in collaboration with audiometrists.
  • Recommend appropriate medical referrals and educational follow-up.
  • Oversee audiometric screening/testing by audiometrists.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Audiology.
  • Iowa educational support license with B-12 school audiologist endorsement or Department of Public Health license supported by Department of Education authorization.
