Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service by offering a helpful, professional, and courteous attitude at the pharmacy window and on the phone.
  • Comply with all applicable federal and state laws, as well as the rules and regulations of the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Dispense medical prescriptions accurately and efficiently, reviewing prescriptions to ensure accuracy and suitability.
  • Offer information and advice regarding drug interactions, side-effects, dosage, and proper medication use.
  • Provide information and advice concerning the use and purchase of over-the-counter medications and healthy food products.
  • Ring sales on the register and complete sales transactions of cash, credit, or debit.
  • Monitor patient compliance to prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions.
  • Order and purchase pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, and drugs, and store them properly.
  • Maintain records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records for poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs.
  • Provide specialized services to help patients manage conditions such as diabetes, asthma, smoking cessation, or high blood pressure.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drug regimens.
  • Compounding and dispensing medications as prescribed by doctors and dentists, by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
  • Offer health promotion and prevention activities, such as explaining nutritional benefits of various food items and training people to use devices such as blood pressure or diabetes monitors.
  • Refer patients to other health professionals when appropriate.
  • Plan, implement, and maintain procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements.
