Position Overview

The Retail Associates at the Science Center serve as the welcoming face of the Sitka Sound Science Center. This role involves engaging with a variety of individuals, including locals and tourists, while providing assistance in the gift shop. Retail Associates are crucial to the success of the center's retail operations, ensuring a positive experience for all visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist customers, addressing their inquiries.
  • Collaborate with the Retail Manager to maintain an organized and visually appealing product display.
  • Restock and arrange merchandise effectively.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the shop and surrounding areas.
  • Process customer transactions using the point-of-sale system.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist in reordering items as necessary.
  • Update displays under the guidance of the Retail Manager.
  • Provide visitors with information and recommendations about local attractions.
  • Encourage guests to explore the Science Center and share knowledge about its offerings.

Qualifications

  • Self-motivated with the ability to identify and complete tasks independently.
  • Reliable and punctual in attendance.
  • Enjoys engaging with new people and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
