Job Summary

As a Telemonitor Technician at SSM Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the continuous monitoring of cardiac rhythms on our Cardiac Telemetry/Stepdown unit. Your primary responsibility will be to observe cardiac monitors, maintain accurate records, and report any rhythm changes to the appropriate unit and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Run rhythm strips at admission, every 4 hours, and with any rhythm change.
  • Measure and interpret PR, QRS, and QT intervals accurately.
  • Sign and date each strip with your initials and position.
  • Complete rhythm verification forms and post strips on the telemetry log.
  • Notify staff of any changes in baseline rhythm, including heart rate or potentially lethal rhythms.
  • Ensure alarms are on and set at appropriate limits for adults and children.
  • Notify staff when electrodes or batteries need to be checked or replaced.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the effects of procedures or medications on a patient's rhythm.
  • Run continuous strips for sustained VT, V-fib, asystole, and bradycardia less than 40 per minute.
  • Maintain telemetry logs, patient information, and perform transmitter/SPO2 inventory per shift.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Rare climbing.
