Job SummaryThe CVOR Scrub Technician will be responsible for preparing supplies and equipment for interventions, using appropriate techniques. S/he will provide technical services as assigned and directed, and assist with procedures. The CVOR Tech will assist and/or perform patient procedures that are within the scope of their unit specific Skills Summation.
Key Responsibilities- Provide safe patient care for the intra-operative phase, including specimen handling and medication labeling and handling.
- Communicate need for appropriate referrals to RN as indicated by expressed patient/family need.
- Accurately process and communicate provider orders to RN.
- Facilitate efficient room turnovers as evidenced by appropriate instruments, supplies and equipment and assisting the team as needed.
- Assist with updating the physician preference cards as appropriate.
- Assist the health care team during surgical procedures by integrating an understanding of anatomy and physiology with the surgical procedure.
- Maintain, monitor, and restock equipment and supplies as assigned or as necessary.
- Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.
- Completion of OR Technician program
- High School Diploma or GED
- BLS
- Employee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for the roles assigned by their departmental leader.
- Recent experience as OR Tech
- Previous experience in direct patient care setting as CNA/PCT or SPD
- Call Required - must be able to respond within 20 minutes
