We are seeking a dedicated Travel Nurse RN specializing in Cardiac Telemetry to join our team at St Josephs Hospital and Medical Center. This role is crucial for providing exceptional care to patients with cardiac conditions.
Certification Requirements- BLS certification is mandatory.
- Medical Solutions prescreen interview is required.
- Experience with common titratable and/or set rate drips such as Heparin, Cardizem, and Amiodarone is essential.
- Provide care for patients in the cardiac telemetry unit.
- Accepting candidates who may not have their license in hand.
- Must possess Level I Trauma experience.
- Cerner EMR familiarity is preferred.
- Must successfully complete a Dysrhythmia Exam prior to acceptance, with an 80% passing score required within 48 hours.
- Competency in maintaining a sterile field is necessary, as these nursing skills are frequently performed.
- Experience with post-operative cardiovascular surgery patients is highly recommended, though not mandatory.
- Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips and interpret common cardiac rhythms.
- Contract duration: 13 weeks.
- Self-scheduling is permitted based on requests.
- Shifts will be balanced with the scheduler.
- Weekend shifts: 3 within a 4-week schedule block.
- Orientation includes 2 days of training with 12-hour shifts.
- Expectation of working 4 total weekend shifts per 4 weeks and 2 out of 3 major holidays.
- Unit: Cardiac Tele - Tower 7.
- Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:3 or 1:4.
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor typically does not take patients.
- Patient Care Technicians available: 1 for every 16 beds.
- Available respiratory equipment includes Cpap, BiPap, and High Flow Nasal Cannula.
- Common patient diagnoses include CABG, MVR, STEMI, Heart Failure, Fundoplication, VATS Decordication, and vascular repair.
- Telemetry technicians are located off the unit for monitoring.
- Medical Solutions prescreen interview is required.
- Travel teams must have their own transportation.
- DAY 1 PASS FAIL SIMs Lab is part of the onboarding process.
- Travelers familiar with sterile field protocols typically pass the SIMs Lab skills assessment.
- In addition to the SIMs Lab, training will include lifts, restraints, and wound care.
- Holiday requirements apply.
- Floating to other applicable areas may be necessary.
- Scrub color: Navy blue; scrubs are not provided.
