Position Overview

Role: Elementary Educator for Grades K-2

Reporting To: K-2 Grade Band Director / Director of School

OBJECTIVES:

  • Design and execute comprehensive lesson plans and classroom activities aimed at maximizing student learning outcomes through mastery demonstration.
  • Establish a classroom environment characterized by high expectations, fostering perseverance through challenging academic materials. Encourage accountability among students and promote a passion for exploration and learning.
  • Engage in effective communication and build robust partnerships with families through various channels, including conferences and home visits when necessary.
  • Leverage current student performance data to inform instructional strategies, planning, and decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with all members of the Emerald Academy team to ensure students achieve exceptional academic results.
  • Implement strategies that promote student self-assessment and self-regulation.
  • Document, evaluate, and summarize student progress using both formal and informal assessment tools to effectively communicate with students, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Utilize technology to manage student data and enhance the learning experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possession of a valid Tennessee Teacher License and any necessary endorsements.
  • Active TDOE Teaching License or completion of the TDOE Application process for out-of-state license transfer prior to application.
  • Must meet the highly qualified criteria for the subject areas being taught. Previous teaching experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A genuine passion for education and student development.
  • Ability to thrive in an innovative and dynamic educational environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on developing creative solutions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the relevant educational domain, particularly in literacy instruction.

Emerald Academy stands as Knoxville's inaugural college preparatory charter school, dedicated to cultivating all scholars into future leaders.
