Job Summary

The Speech Therapist will provide high-quality, patient-centered care by developing and conducting individualized therapy programs for patients with communication, cognitive, and/or swallowing impairments. As a member of the healthcare team, the Speech Therapist will perform comprehensive patient assessments and establish appropriate treatment goals.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct subjective assessments of assigned patients' speech language abilities during spontaneous conversation.
  • Administer objective tests to assess patients' communication assets and liabilities.
  • Structure and implement individualized patient programs to improve communication abilities.
  • Evaluate patients regularly during treatment and adjust programs as needed to maximize patient progress.
  • Document progress in patients' charts, including notes, charges, discharge notes, and patient communication.
  • Consult with the Program Director and Rehab Physician/Medical Director regarding pre-screen assessments and physician consultations to determine appropriate placement of potential patients.
Requirements
  • Masters in Communications Disorders from a Speech Language Pathology Program.
  • Must maintain licensure by the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathology.
  • Prefer membership in ASHA.
  • BLS Certification.
