Educational and Professional Background

A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that enables the individual to perform the essential functions of the role. A minimum of 4 years of experience in Metrology Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field is necessary.

Position Objective:

To work autonomously or collaboratively to prepare, execute, and assess the implementation, programming, and support of metrology equipment in tooling, program development, and production. Aid in enhancing and resolving design and manufacturing challenges related to tooling, material fabrication, and assembly techniques.

Job Responsibilities

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  1. Interpret and consolidate aircraft engineering, tooling designs, and production specifications to create optimized measurement strategies and processes.
  2. With limited oversight, develop programming for all measurement instruments utilized in the development, manufacturing, and support of Gulfstream aircraft.
  3. Collaborate with engineering, tooling, manufacturing engineering, and operations teams to establish optimal manufacturing protocols.
  4. Develop and document standards for the management and application of metrology equipment.
  5. Create standardized and custom inspection reports utilizing Metrologic software.
  6. Analyze and enhance equipment performance to boost capacity and efficiency.
  7. Engage with equipment vendors regarding warranty repairs, necessary enhancements, and upgrades.
  8. May serve as Team Leader, delegating tasks, managing workload schedules, and prioritizing to ensure timely achievement of departmental objectives and corporate goals.
  9. Set up and employ precision measuring instruments; validate measurement outcomes for accuracy and consistency.
  10. Contribute to the documentation of new or recent processes involving metrology techniques or equipment.
  11. Define and document specifications for additional metrology equipment based on existing or known processes.
  12. Independently lead and coordinate project implementations across multiple organizations.
  13. Support all Safety, Sustainability, and Ergonomic Initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities:
  1. Actively pursue improvements in daily processes, ensuring all work meets customer standards.
  2. Assist the tool shop as necessary during periodic and conformity inspections.
  3. Support the selection of metrology equipment and software.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Qualifications:
  1. Demonstrated knowledge of metrology equipment, software, and current measurement methodologies.
  2. Extensive familiarity with 3D CAD/CATIA modeling and a strong grasp of GD&T principles.
  3. Understanding of Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
