Position Overview

The Program Supervisor plays a pivotal role in the operational management and effectiveness of the Thompson Placement Stability Unit (TPSU). This position is dedicated to guiding a team of professionals who are committed to assisting youth in the custody of the Department of Social Services (DSS), particularly those facing challenges related to placement stability.

Compensation: Annual salary range of $60,000 to $75,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing coaching and constructive feedback to foster the professional development of team members
  • Establish program goals, clarify roles, and prioritize tasks for the team
  • Facilitate effective communication across all levels to meet program requirements
  • Lead the recruitment and selection process for high-caliber program staff
  • Conduct comprehensive performance evaluations for direct reports

  • Ensure compliance with the agency's Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) processes
  • Maintain adherence to internal and external standards regarding documentation and service delivery

  • Manage and resolve client, parent, and guardian concerns
  • Serve as a liaison between Thompson, DSS, and other key stakeholders
  • Guarantee service delivery aligns with the TPSU's four-phase model
  • Offer a comprehensive suite of services, including 24/7 on-call support

Leadership Principles and Skills:

  • Effective leaders focus on achieving results through their teams, measuring success by the accomplishments of their direct reports
  • Prioritize time for strategic planning, direct report engagement, and team development
  • Essential skills include planning, delegation, coaching, performance management, and effective communication

Qualifications:

To qualify for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A valid Driver's License and meet all credentialing and licensing standards
  • A Master's degree in a relevant field
  • Residence within a 100-mile radius of Buncombe/Jackson counties
  • Preferred supervisory experience

Minimum qualifications include:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Child Welfare or a related Human Services field
  • Active full or provisional licensure in North Carolina as an LMFT, LPA, LCSW, or Licensed Psychologist
  • Experience in leadership or management roles, including project management or training
  • Demonstrated potential for growth as a leader, with a focus on working with children and families
