Position Overview

The Senior Systems Architect (SA) Level 3 evaluates user needs, operational concepts, and overarching system frameworks to create comprehensive system requirements documentation. This role involves analyzing system specifications and spearheading design and development initiatives. The SA will assist users in articulating their needs, recommend alternative solutions, and conduct feasibility assessments. Providing technical guidance for the integration of requirements, design, and technology is essential. The role also entails incorporating new strategies, designs, and systems into ongoing operations while producing technical documentation. The SA will develop system architecture and design documentation, facilitating system development and implementation planning through the preparation of engineering management plans and integration/test plans. Interaction with government entities regarding technical considerations and associated challenges is a key responsibility. The ultimate accountability for the technical integrity of deliverables within the Systems Engineering domain lies with this position. Communication with program personnel, government representatives, and senior management is vital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the functionality of the Splunk infrastructure with PKI-based authentication, corporate authorization services, firewalls, and SSL/TLS communications.
  • Contribute to the enhancement and ongoing refinement of industry best practices and standards for data analytics enterprise technologies.
  • Assist in the installation, testing, and deployment of hotfixes/patches for Splunk applications/products to address enterprise vulnerabilities.
  • Support the creation of knowledge articles, documentation, and operational instructions utilized by the Splunk, server, desktop, and Information System Security teams, as well as Tier 2/3 Help Desk personnel.
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, day shift, with availability for after-hours on-call support.
Essential Skills:
  • Proven experience managing user authentication within Splunk, including RBAC/ABAC.
  • Experience in reviewing network, host, and firewall security logs.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with the Splunk Machine Learning Toolkit (MLTK).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as CSS, HTML, JavaScript, and Python.
  • Knowledge of RMF, Trellix ePO, NESSUS, SCAP, and vulnerability scanning methodologies.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Ticketing System.
  • Shell scripting capabilities for task automation and data manipulation.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of twenty (20) years of experience as a Systems Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is essential. A Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited institution is required. Five (5) years of additional Systems Engineering experience may substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
  • DoD 8570 CE Requirements: CompTIA Security+ CE certification.
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph is mandatory.
