About This Position

The Phoenix Police Department is seeking a highly skilled Airport Operations Assistant to join our team. As an Airport Operations Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our airport operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of safety, security, and customer service tasks in airside and landside operations at the airport.
  • Handle inquiries and complaints from airport users in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Perform traffic, pedestrian, and crowd control functions to ensure the smooth operation of airport activities.
  • Respond to and aid during aircraft and other emergencies, providing critical support to airport staff and passengers.
  • Conduct airport operational, safety, and security inspections to ensure compliance with federal regulations and airport rules and regulations.
Requirements
  • Two years of experience serving as a security guard at a major international airport.
  • Other combinations of experience and education which meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • Ability to work in a variety of environmental extremes, including heat, cold, rain, air pollution, and dust.
  • Ability to walk for prolonged periods, including walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with and assisting customers in varying stressful situations.
  • Experience resolving customer issues and providing information to the public in a friendly manner.
  • Airport Certified Employee (ACE) AAAE in Airport Operations or Airport Security or Airport Communications is a plus.
  • Aviation Management Development Program (MDP) and Certified Member of AAAE is a plus.
  • Classes completed towards a Bachelor's degree in Aviation, such as Aviation Management, Safety Science, Global Security and Intelligence Studies, or any other Aviation related field is a plus.
