Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Wildlife Field Research Assistant to join our team at My Florida Corp Defunct. The successful candidate will assist in conducting field research and data collection for a cooperative project with the University of Florida, assessing the breeding chronology of Osceola wild turkeys in south and south-central Florida.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in organizing and preparing trapping equipment and supplies
  • Scout and bait trap sites, clearing and prepping trap sites
  • Trap and tag wild turkeys, track and download radio-tagged hens
  • Monitor nests and broods, nest vegetation surveys, and deploy autonomous recording units (ARU)
  • Lead a team at the Immokalee field site after trapping concludes
Requirements
  • Background in wildlife field research
  • Ability to work in an extremely fast-paced, team environment
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task, prioritize
  • Strong organizational skills and experience in wild turkey trapping and capture
  • Radio telemetry and tracking, blood draws/bleeding birds, operating 4WD vehicles, ATVs, and navigation tools
