Job Summary

This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations. The primary responsibilities include delivering comprehensive personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families. Services encompass education and counseling addressing financial services, including one-on-one counseling, consultation with commanders or other providers, conducting briefings and presentations, or providing referral resources outside of counseling sessions. The successful candidate will work closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact to ensure the program meets the needs of the installation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
  • Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
  • Develop and make available informational financial materials to service members and families.
  • Coordinate, publicize, and provide a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops, covering topics across the military lifecycle.
  • Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
  • Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication, such as web-based, secure online chat, or video-based communications.
  • Manage duty to warn situations according to Department of Defense protocol.
  • Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing information regarding trends and issues on the installations.
  • Participate in regular in-services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree required. May consider applicants with an associate degree plus 4 years' experience or a high school diploma plus 6 years' experience. Must be a U.S. citizen, speak fluent English, and be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation. One of the following certifications is required: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). Over a thousand hours of financial counseling experience are also required.
