Key Responsibilities
  • Welding and Fabrication: Utilize spot welding guns, electric, or gas welding equipment to weld or tack weld pieces together.
  • Pipe Fitting and Assembly: Connect pipes from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas and adjust valves to release the mixture.
  • Flame Cutting and Shaping: Achieve the desired temperature, size, and color of flame by burning torch and regulating gas and air flow.
  • Preparation and Repair: Preheat workpieces for welding or shaping preparation using a torch, and repair holes or rectify errors in lead pieces.
  • Quality Control: Check for imperfections in workpieces and measure them with a straightedge or template to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Material Handling: Utilize hoist, crane, wire, and banding machine, or hand tools to position and secure workpieces.
  • Worksite Safety: Choose welding location based on metal type, thickness, area, and expected temperature to protect the torch.
  • Equipment Operation: Guide flame or electrodes onto or across workpiece to straighten, bend, melt, or shape metal.
  • Component Assembly: Join pieces, address tension points, and add metal to shape components.
Requirements
  • Education: No specific educational requirements.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience at the Journeyman level.
