Job Title: Special Education Teacher

We are seeking a highly qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team at the School for the Blind in Colorado Springs, CO.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing standards-based instruction to learners who have additional disabilities, utilizing Colorado State Standards and access skills to establish instructional goals. The teacher will also be responsible for assessing learner progress and maintaining a safe and civil school environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with additional disabilities
  • Provide instruction and support to students in a variety of settings, including classrooms and individualized instruction
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Collaborate with other educators and support staff to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive educational experience for all students
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in special education or a closely related field
  • Colorado educator licensure in special education
  • Experience teaching or working with students with additional disabilities
Working Conditions:

The work environment is a typical school office setting, with mostly sedentary to light physical activity. The teacher may be required to climb stairs, bend, reach, and handle objects, and use fingers to operate a computer and/or typewriter keyboard.
