About the Internal Audit Group

The Internal Audit Group (IAG) at American Express is a global function comprising a dedicated team of professionals committed to enhancing our audit capabilities. IAG is responsible for delivering comprehensive audit coverage aligned with key risk areas across the organization.

Role of the Investigations Team

The Investigations team within IAG plays a crucial role in upholding the standards set forth by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. This team is tasked with investigating unusual activities, including potential fraud and ethical violations. We seek individuals with diverse expertise in investigations, data analysis, and compliance to support our mission of maintaining the highest ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple investigation projects across various business units.
  • Collect and evaluate evidence while conducting forensic accounting investigations.
  • Engage in fact-finding interviews with personnel at all levels.
  • Collaborate with team members to analyze data and develop control tests.
  • Utilize case management and analytical tools effectively.
  • Deliver clear and concise investigation reports in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate internal controls and recommend improvements based on findings.
  • Maintain professional development to enhance investigative skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in corporate investigations or relevant audit roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Tableau and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in accounting or a related discipline.
  • Experience with data visualization and analytics.
  • Professional certifications (CFE, CPA, CIA, etc.) are advantageous.
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive financial investigations.
