Ganymede is a pioneering organization building a cutting-edge platform to accelerate scientific advancements in the health and welfare of people. As a Scientific Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving real-world impact by automating complex scientific processes using our innovative platform.
About GanymedeWe believe that software infrastructure has the power to transform the way scientists work and advance knowledge. Our mission is to harness this potential by creating a scalable business that improves lives through better medicine. At Ganymede, we foster an inclusive culture built on principles of kindness, transparency, and accountability.
Job DescriptionThis role offers substantial autonomy to execute projects end-to-end, making you effectively a Chief Technical Officer for clients' Ganymede builds. You will own the implementation by working closely with client executives and users to define and prioritize problems, building a deep understanding of their lab instruments and scientific analysis, and then setting up Ganymede's platform pipelines to automate these details.
- You will be the expert on your clients' scientific data, processes, and operations, ensuring seamless integration of our platform into their systems.
- Collaborate with fellow engineers to define the architecture needed for the Ganymede core platform, integrate our web backend and infrastructure into client systems, and develop applications to interact with biotech lab instrument hardware.
- Become a key determinant of our culture, helping us grow and set norms for the business as we scale.
- Owning project implementation from start to finish, ensuring successful delivery and high-quality results.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement platform architecture, integrating with external systems, and developing applications.
- Building strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs, and delivering tailored solutions.
- Staying up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve our platform and services.
- At least 2 years of full-time experience developing software or writing analytical code.
- Excellent collaboration skills, both written and verbal, as well as clear, cleanly written code.
- A strong engineering background, preferably in computer science, physics, or engineering discipline.
- Proficiency with analytical programming languages (e.g., scientific Python, Mathematica, Julia).
- Hunger, curiosity, and motivation to learn about and solve data problems for clients with the rest of the Ganymede team.
- Desire to improve software infrastructure for scientists advancing the health and welfare of people.
- Located in, and authorized to work from, the United States; Bay Area preferred.
- Availability for approximately 10-15% travel, concentrated in the US West.
The estimated salary for this position is between $120,000 and $180,000 annually, depending on experience. We offer unlimited PTO & sick days, excellent health benefits (Medical, Dental & Vision), life, and disability insurance, family leave, health & wellness stipend, and limited 401K match.
