Job Summary:

As a Phlebotomist with CHRISTUS Health, you will play a vital role in the laboratory team, responsible for collecting and processing patient specimens for testing. This is a dynamic and rewarding role that requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect blood and other specimens from patients, ensuring accurate labeling and handling to maintain specimen integrity.
  • Operate laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, microscopes, and automated analyzers, to process specimens for testing.
  • Prepare and send specimens to external laboratories for further testing, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of specimen collection, processing, and testing, adhering to laboratory and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff, nurses, and physicians to ensure seamless communication and efficient specimen processing.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on laboratory procedures, technologies, and best practices.

Requirements:

A. Education/Skills
High School diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a Phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory program preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology, computer data entry, and organizational skills.

B. Experience
One year phlebotomy experience preferred. Certification from a National Accredited Program preferred.
