Position Overview

Under moderate supervision, the Specialty Pharmacy Technician Educator operates within designated areas of the organization. This role functions with a degree of independence and carries some decision-making authority. The educator may collaborate with various departments and external entities beyond the pharmacy sector. This position requires advanced knowledge and training in the specialty area, exceeding standard pharmacy technician responsibilities. The educator plays a crucial role in the training and development of staff in specialty areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engages in specialized functions and responsibilities that extend beyond typical technician duties.
  • Takes ownership of tasks and ensures the quality and thoroughness of assigned work.
  • Handles data collection and reporting related to specific projects or areas of focus.
  • Acts as a role model and leader within the department.
  • Addresses any identified issues within their area of responsibility through appropriate channels.
  • Must comply with regulatory standards to ensure adherence (including USP [795] [797] [800] for sites performing sterile compounding).
  • Involved in the training of others in their area of expertise.
  • Refer to additional site-specific duties as necessary.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant pharmacy experience is necessary.
  • State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician License is required upon hire.
