Job Title: Senior Manager, Machine Learning and AI

PayPal is seeking a seasoned leader to spearhead a portfolio of Commerce AI/ML teams, driving the development of cutting-edge AI-driven solutions that will revolutionize the future of PayPal. As a Senior Manager, Machine Learning and AI, you will lead a team of talented ML Scientists and be responsible for managing a portfolio of ML solutions, including personalization, recommendation, and ranking of millions of products on the PayPal App.

About the Role:
  • Lead a team of ML Scientists in developing and implementing large-scale predictive models and recommendation systems.
  • Define an end-to-end vision for the domain, including signal collection, consumer embedding, product and merchant embeddings, and retrieval/ranking pipelines.
  • Leverage GenAI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Llama to accelerate the development of recommendation models.
  • Communicate complex concepts and the results of models and analyses to both technical and non-technical audiences, influencing partners including product stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the engineering group and PayPal's Platforms organization to drive the adoption of ML/AI solutions throughout the organization.
  • Grow and scale a team of top-performing talent.
Requirements:
  • Strong background in Machine Learning with practical experience in building and implementing large-scale predictive models and recommendation systems.
  • Expertise in Customer Facing AI/ML Recommendation applications on a large-scale consumer-facing app.
  • Preferred to have industry expertise in e-commerce recommendations, Ads relevance, or other related applications.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence partners and customers with your insights and expertise.
  • Ability to groom senior ICs and Junior Managers.
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields. At least 2 years of experience managing teams and 8 years of experience in AI/ML for Consumer or relevant Applications.
