Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at the County of Coweta. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing intermediate skilled trades work in facility maintenance and repair activities, including painting, plumbing, and mechanical maintenance and repair tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs a variety of skilled trades work in the maintenance and repair of buildings, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical repairs.
  • Repairs and maintains electrical systems and components, including wiring, conduit, switches, receptacles, lighting fixtures, grounds, controls, and relays.
  • Assists in the maintenance and repair of motorized equipment, including small engine repairs and maintenance.
  • Prepares surfaces for painting and paints walls, ceilings, doors, windows, cabinets, and equipment.
  • Repairs, installs, or removes cabinets and shelving systems, and operates woodworking tools to cut, form, and finish necessary materials.
  • Performs renovations of office spaces and assists with office moves, including moving office furniture and equipment as necessary.
  • Transports assigned community service workers, prioritizes work orders, and ensures assigned work is completed properly.
  • Encourages and promotes a culture of excellent customer service.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED with coursework in carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing trades, or related field and considerable experience in building maintenance, repair, or construction activities.
  • Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in building maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to recognize and diagnose problems, follow oral and written instructions, and make decisions within scope of responsibility.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
Working Conditions

This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force, and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force. Work regularly requires using hands to finger, handle, or feel, frequently requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and reaching with hands and arms. Work has standard vision requirements, and vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
