Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Tennis Coach and Athletics Leader to join our team at the University of Redlands. As an Assistant Coach, you will play a crucial role in the planning, administration, and evaluation of both men's and women's tennis programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of tennis strategies, practice plans, and game plans.
  • Recruit and retain qualified prospective student-athletes for the men's and women's tennis programs.
  • Maintain effective communication with prospective student-athletes and the Admissions Office.
  • Coordinate on and off-campus visits with prospective student-athletes.
  • Assist with on-court coaching, training, and skill development.
  • Plan, execute, and maintain all aspects of the men's and women's program's social media sites.
  • Scout opponents and prepare scouting reports for the head coach and team members.
  • Coordinate elite camps and high school tournaments on campus.
  • Assist the head coach with the supervision, oversight, and maintenance of the Coach Jim Verdieck Tennis Center.
  • Teach physical education activity courses in accordance with the assigned load during the academic year.
  • Accept a collateral assignment within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
  • Function as an active team member of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Three years of tennis coaching experience.
  • A valid California Class C driver's license with a good driving record.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of applicable team or individual sports and playing rules.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the NCAA Division III philosophy.
  • Possess the ability to attract outstanding students to the University.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the role of physical education, recreational sports, and athletics in a private, liberal arts academic setting.
  • Strong interpersonal, motivational, and team leadership skills to work effectively with athletic participants.
  • Ability to clearly communicate information both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent organizational skills, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Follow appropriate safety rules and regulations.
  • Ability to recommend appropriate courses of action within established guidelines.
  • Understand, interpret, explain, and apply applicable federal and state policies and laws.
  • Ability to foster strong, positive relationships and align both internal and external resources to achieve university objectives.
  • Must be able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.
Estimated Salary:

$55,467 annually, pro-rated.
