Role Overview:
As a Construction Equipment Technician, you will be essential in the upkeep and repair of a diverse array of heavy machinery, ensuring smooth and safe operations across various projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnostics and Repair:
Carry out diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy machinery, including but not limited to excavators, bulldozers, loaders, cranes, and graders. Utilize diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues. Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled services to reduce downtime and prolong equipment life. - Maintenance:
Execute routine inspections and maintenance tasks to guarantee optimal performance and adherence to safety regulations. Replace and repair components as necessary, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, and hydraulic parts. Conduct oil changes, lubrication, and other fluid maintenance activities. - Record Keeping:
Maintain precise records of repairs, services, and inspections conducted on equipment. Document all work performed and parts utilized in maintenance and repair processes. - Safety Compliance:
Follow all safety regulations and company policies while executing job responsibilities. Ensure a secure working environment by adhering to proper safety protocols and utilizing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE). - Collaboration:
Work in close partnership with construction managers, equipment operators, and other team members to prioritize maintenance and repair tasks. Offer suggestions for equipment enhancements and upgrades.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of experience as a construction equipment technician, ideally within the construction sector. Proven expertise with a variety of construction machinery, including both diesel and gasoline engines. - Skills:
Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair abilities. Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and software. Capable of reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams. - Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or degree in heavy equipment mechanics or a related discipline is preferred. - Other Requirements:
Valid driver's license; Class B CDL required. Ability to lift heavy items and work in various environmental conditions. Strong attention to detail and dedication to quality workmanship. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Flexibility for potential weekend availability based on project requirements.
