Job Summary

DISH Network, LLC is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer-Software to join our team in Englewood, Colorado. As a key member of our APJS team, you will be responsible for expanding and optimizing the player for various platforms, including Smart TVs, Xbox, Comcast, Chromecast, and Browser platforms.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, with experience in building and growing teams, developing robust and scalable software, and ensuring high-quality standards. You will work closely with our development team to design, develop, and maintain our video player, using technologies such as HEVC, H.264, EAC3, and VP9, HLS, MPEG, DASH, and CMAF.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing new features and maintaining existing ones using NodeJS, JavaScript, and TypeScript
  • Writing clean and maintainable code that solves complex business problems
  • Assisting with validation of functional correctness, architectural compliance, and adherence to industry standards
  • Developing new features required for the player, UI, and enhancements by implementing the latest technologies
  • Refactoring code to meet new architectural decisions, cleaning up code that is no longer needed, and simplifying logic
  • Debugging and maintaining React app code

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related field, plus 5 years of experience in job offered or Application Development Technical Team Leader and Technical Lead
  • 5 years of experience with using Java Script/Type Script and.
  • Object Oriented principles, design patterns, and software design/architecture best practices
  • Analyzing live application statistics to understand behavior and performance using analytics tools like Conviva, Kibana, ComScore, Nelsen, and Adobe
  • Analyzing, debugging, and fixing bugs in Javascript/Typescript code and Nodejs
  • Creating CI/CD jobs using GitLab, Artifactory, and Jenkins to build, deploy, and run nightly jobs for APJS player
  • Node Packaging Manager for packaging and building the application
  • Unit testing, automated testing, peer code-reviews, and continuous integration
  • Scrum and Agile working experience
