Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Painter to join our team at the State Museum in New Orleans, LA. As a Painter, you will be responsible for preparing and painting buildings, furniture, and other structures with brush or spray application.
Key Responsibilities- Clean surfaces to be painted using sandpaper, burners, scrapers, brushes, dipvats, sanding machines, sandblasters, and dusters.
- Remove paints, assemble, and disassemble furniture and equipment for refinishing.
- Mix, thin, and match paints.
- Apply paint with brush, roller, or spray gun to the exterior and interior of buildings, furniture, signs, structural steel, and/or equipment.
- Erect and remove scaffolding, swinging stages, and boatswain chairs as necessary.
- May requisition supplies or maintain records.
- Perform incidental related duties such as glazing, wall covering, sheetrock, spackling, repairing plaster, and cement work.
- Keep records of time, supplies, and work.
- Direct and train assigned helpers and apprentices.
- Two years of experience in the painting trade, such as a painter's helper.
- Training in the painting trade will substitute for the required experience on a month for month basis.
