Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Music Educator/Choral Director to join our team at Young World Physical Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our music program and directing our high school choral performances.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement music curriculum and instruction that aligns with state and national standards.
  • Direct high school choral performances, including rehearsals and concerts.
  • Establish performance requirements and enforce academic requirements for choral participation.
  • Provide opportunities for choral participation at extracurricular events and organize band trips in accordance with district policy and regulations.
  • Arrange transportation, lodging, and meals for out-of-town events.
  • Comply with federal and state laws, RIMEA rules, and Board of Education policies.
  • Support Music Booster club activities.
  • Plan, rehearse, and direct musical experiences for the school and community with evening performances.
  • Cooperate with the school administration in providing music programs for school productions, graduation ceremonies, and civic functions.
  • Oversee scheduling and other arrangements for rehearsals and concerts.
  • Prepare students and required documents for District and State auditions and competitions.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of school-owned instruments.
  • Control the storage and use of school-owned equipment and materials.
  • Submit budget needs annually to the principal/fine arts supervisors.
  • Order supplies and materials necessary for related activities.
  • Plan and use instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
Requirements
  • Hold valid RI Teacher Certification Music PK-12 or the credentials to obtain the certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with members of the special needs staff in a team approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with students, teachers, parents, and administration.
  • Bi-Lingual preferred.
  • At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
  • Bachelor degree preferred.
