About the Role

The Behavioral Resource Technician (BRT) is a vital member of the Baystate Health team, responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of patients in the Emergency Department. The BRT will closely monitor assigned patients, observing and interacting with them to provide necessary care and report any changes to the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide age-appropriate care to patients across different developmental stages, taking into account their unique needs and requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients and team members, demonstrating respect, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
  • Perform job-specific responsibilities, including observing patients, providing care, and reporting patient information to the nurse in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients at all times, adhering to Baystate Health's safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Stay up-to-date on specific care requirements for different diagnoses, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care.
  • Participate in competency validations and educational activities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Required Experience

A minimum of 1 year of relevant patient care experience, preferably in a behavioral health setting, is required for this role.

Preferred Experience

Ideally, 2 years of experience working with behavioral health patients would be beneficial in this position.

Essential Skills

Demonstrate proficiency in reading comprehension, writing, and following instructions, with a strong focus on attention to detail and accuracy.
