Job Overview

About the Role

The Sous Chef position is a key leadership role within the culinary team at Levy, a leading hospitality company. As a Sous Chef, you will be responsible for providing direction and coaching to team members to deliver exceptional food and guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively coach and motivate team members to achieve their best
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in location operations and drive change
  • Monitor quality and sanitation standards to ensure a safe and healthy environment
  • Deliver against financial goals and budgets while maintaining high-quality standards
  • Set the standard for culinary excellence and oversee equipment maintenance routines
  • Communicate and monitor par levels to ensure efficient food production
  • Support the creation of menu build diagrams and monitor output to ensure standards are met
  • Ensure all routine kitchen management procedures are followed, including opening and closing checklists, cleaning schedules, temperature checks, waste sheets, and pest control
  • Creation of menu specifications as needed
  • Set standards for chef table setups and creation of prep sheets and line layout diagrams to ensure consistent and efficient food production
  • Perform daily line checks to verify quality and flavor standards
  • Lead game-day culinary operations and manage end-of-month inventory in partnership with the purchasing team
  • Proactively monitor and manage food waste to drive cost savings
  • Deliver training and coaching to team members on menu and general culinary skills
  • Manage employee breaks to ensure team well-being
  • Deliver pre-shift meetings to set the tone for events
  • Conduct corrective action with team members to address performance issues
  • Complete onboarding and orientation for new culinary team members
  • Ensure all elements of food ordering, delivery, prep, transportation, and service are conducted to a high standard in line with Levy's sanitation and safety Core Signatures
  • Support other Levy locations as needed
  • Support the maintenance and update of recipes
  • Manage culinary department budget
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a culinary leadership position
  • Culinary degree preferred
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Understanding of financial concepts
  • Passion for hospitality, food, and retail
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
