The Registered Nurse Preceptor is a key member of our healthcare team, responsible for the orientation and continuing education of staff. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that our nurses have the skills and knowledge needed to provide exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Develops and implements individualized orientation plans in collaboration with the Education Consultant, ensuring that new staff members receive comprehensive training and support.
- Assists with documentation of orientation records and competency validation, ensuring that all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Provides timely and ongoing feedback to orientees, Education Consultants, and Managers, helping to identify areas for improvement and ensure that staff members are meeting their full potential.
- Assists with annual learning needs assessments on the unit, helping to identify areas where staff may need additional training or support.
- Coordinates department continuing education efforts, working with staff members to identify areas where they need additional training or support.
- Coordinates annual completion of competency validation for staff members, ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Education: Graduate of a school of professional nursing from an accredited college.
- Experience: Two years' experience in a clinical discipline is required.
- Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure. BSN preferred. Obtain CPR and as needed ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications.
- Computer skills: Required for electronic medical record (EPIC) use.
- Other: Successfully complete orientation and competency requirements.
