Job Summary:

The Staff Nurse will utilize the nursing process to meet the health care needs of inmates in the New Jersey Department of Corrections. This role will provide direct and indirect nursing care to meet the physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs of residents-patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet the health care needs of inmates
  • Performs assessments of residents-patients in various settings
  • Works with healthcare professionals and security officers in a correctional environment
  • Identifies inmate-centered goals and nursing objectives
  • Plans nursing care by identifying resident-patient needs based on assessments
Requirements:
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
  • License to practice in the State of New Jersey
  • Valid Driver's License
  • CPR Certification
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) or its equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a correctional setting
Work Environment:

The Staff Nurse will work in a correctional environment and must be physically able to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes and lift and carry an emergency treatment bag that can weigh up to 45 pounds.
