Job Summary:

Seeking a skilled Cook to join our team at Black Bear Restaurant. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for food preparation, kitchen cleaning, and inventory management. Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook food menu items to the highest standards
  • Clean and maintain the kitchen, walk-ins, and work areas to ensure a safe and healthy environment
  • Manage inventory of food and supplies, including ordering and requisitioning as needed
  • Complete daily reports and maintain accurate records
  • Assist in other areas of the restaurant, such as housekeeping, maintenance, or groundskeeping
Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 6 months of experience in food preparation in a full-service restaurant
  • Valid Food Handler Certification recognized by the Texas Department of State Health Services
Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience in food preparation in a full-service restaurant
  • Valid Food Handler Certification recognized by the Texas Department of State Health Services
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of restaurant operations, including quantity food preparation techniques and procedures
  • Knowledge of ordering inventory of grocery supplies
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, proper food temperatures, and safe food handling techniques
  • Ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions
  • Ability to interpret and follow recipes
  • Ability to accurately follow instructions
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting supplies and materials up to 20 lbs.
Working Conditions:

  • Work in a public hotel-type facility
  • Work 40 hours per week, including various schedules and days off
  • Adjust to changing schedules
  • Perform manual labor, including lifting supplies and materials up to 30 lbs.
  • May be required to operate a State vehicle
  • Travel 5% with possible overnight stays
  • Conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules, and safety procedures
  • Work in a non-smoking environment
