Job Summary

This position contributes to the mission and vision of CommonSpirit Health by performing a variety of direct and non-direct patient care duties during procedures within the scope of service.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist healthcare providers and medical/surgical support staff in activities such as patient assessment, treatment, anesthesia intervention, physiological monitoring, and direct patient care.
  2. Prepare, set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot invasive monitoring lines, assist with difficult airway and/or emergency situations, and ensure sterile placement of invasive physiological monitoring and treatment catheters.
  3. Respond to patient-specific needs, including blood, medications, supply, and equipment during surgical procedures, and follow guidelines as instructed by licensed providers.
  4. Perform patient identification procedures to ensure proper delivery of blood products and medications.
  5. Operate surgical equipment under the direction of licensed providers, ensuring operating/procedure rooms and pre/post rooms are adequately stocked with supplies and equipment.
  6. Work closely with supply logistics to maintain anesthesia product supply for the operating room and procedural areas throughout the facility.
  7. Assist in the transfer and monitoring of patients to/from Critical Care Units and within perioperative services.
  8. Clean and prepare operating/procedure rooms and pre/post rooms for the next patient to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  9. Implement infection control policies to support anesthesia practices in surgical and procedural areas.
  10. Identify, eliminate, or reduce safety hazards and report them to management.
  11. Participate in the Anesthesia OR Emergency Response/Code Team and ensure emergency safety equipment is available and in working order.
  12. Initiate trials and in-service sessions of new anesthesia products/equipment to improve quality of care.
  13. Multi-task and possess strong communication skills.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

High school diploma.

Required Licensure and Certifications:

BLS-CPR.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training:

Clinical expertise and in-depth knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring. EMT experience, Paramedic experience, or military Medic; CNA or PCT training program, or completion of "fundamentals" as a nursing student &/or 12 months of acute care (bedside) experience. Basic computer skills, adaptation to unpredictable situations, ability to make independent decisions, highly motivated, accountability, interest in patient care, and compassion for people.
