Job Summary

The Plaza Hotel & Casino is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Bar Apprentice to join our team. As a Bar Apprentice, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our guests, maintaining a clean and organized bar area, and assisting the Bartender with various duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service, greeting guests, presenting menus, and taking orders in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Prepare and pour all types of drinks for customers and servers, maintaining a high level of knowledge of menu items and specials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized bar area, including polishing glassware and ensuring correct health and sanitation practices are followed.
  • Assist new employees with training and answer questions, providing a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Check IDs if the guest appears to be under 30, and be ethical and professional at all times.
  • Follow uniform and appearance standards, and perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 6 months prior Bartender or Bar Apprentice experience.
  • At least 1 year previous money handling position.
  • Schedule flexibility, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • High school degree or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts.
  • Pleasing personality and ability to communicate with customers.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Knowledge of wine and champagne service.
  • Ability to work inside assigned bar area in the casino/hotel, lift up to 75 pounds, and bend, pull, and carry bar stock.
  • Ability to accurately ring up all orders in the POS system and maintain ability to socialize with guests.
  • Ability to operate cash register, two and six wheel carts, juice, soda, and liquor guns, cutting boards, coffee and frozen drink machines, ice machines, shot glasses, mixers, pourers, blenders, beer keg/soda/wine/juice hook-ups, and knives.
  • Ability to listen and respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to tolerate areas containing second-hand smoke, high noise levels, bright lights, and dust.
  • Ability to be reliable and conscientious, accurate and detail-oriented, and flexible to constantly changing work environments, service positions, and outlet team structures.
  • Ability to adapt to Las Vegas weather, including wind, rain, extreme heat, and extreme cold.
