Position Summary:

The Head of Quantum Systems Operations will oversee all on-site daily functions, acting as the primary contact for site management. This role is crucial for ensuring the implementation of PsiQuantum's policies and fostering a safe working environment. This position requires a physical presence on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and manage the complete Quantum Systems Operations (QSO) process, including hiring, procurement, logistics, IT, security, and site infrastructure readiness for new hardware.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams and vendors to expedite the delivery of Bill of Materials (BOM), manage acceptance testing, and ensure ongoing operational uptime and utilization.
  • Direct the technical activities related to hardware development, encompassing electronic and mechanical design, as well as hardware reliability.
  • Report directly to the VP of Operations, contributing to strategic planning and execution.

Essential Duties:

  • Lead the establishment of a fully operational team at designated sites, ensuring readiness for PsiQuantum tools.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive site commissioning plans in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Align priorities and manage resources effectively to support organizational objectives.
  • Work with existing management and operational teams to facilitate smooth implementations, including third-party collaborations and logistics.
  • Oversee budget tracking and provide management with workforce needs and cost estimates.
  • Encourage team development and foster a collaborative environment, leveraging individual strengths for overall effectiveness.
  • Communicate regularly with management to provide updates and maintain engagement.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline is preferred.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in operations, manufacturing, project management, or related fields.
  • Proven experience in P&L management, operational oversight, and equipment commissioning.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead in ambiguous situations.
  • Excellent communication skills and a self-starter attitude.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in both startup and large corporate environments.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and shifting priorities in a dynamic setting.
  • Familiarity with optical, photonics, and cryogenic systems.
  • Proven leadership capabilities and a commitment to continuous improvement.
