Key Responsibilities:

  • Exemplify and promote company values, prioritize safety for yourself and others, conduct business with integrity, and strive for excellence in all job aspects.
  • Operate a concrete mixing machine to prepare cement or epoxy grouts.
  • Assist in constructing or reinforcing forms and bracing before concrete pours.
  • Direct the positioning of concrete delivery for efficient pouring.
  • Handle tools, equipment, and supplies through loading, transporting, and unloading.
  • Distribute concrete to the required depth and consistency, using a float to achieve a smooth finish.
  • Level, smooth, and shape freshly poured concrete surfaces to meet specified finishes.
  • Lift, position, and secure materials and workpieces effectively.
  • Utilize hand tools such as floats, screeds, and trowels for finishing tasks.
  • Identify and rectify defects in concrete finishes as necessary.
  • Remove imperfections from concrete using grinders or chisels.
  • Work under the supervision of the Foreman or Superintendent.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and project guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Occasionally oversee finishing crews during concrete pours to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Execute proper finishing techniques for curbs.
  • Operate trowel machines and mechanical screeds as required.
  • Utilize early entry saws when necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Proficient in basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to interpret flat drawings or diagrams and visualize them as three-dimensional objects.
  • Capable of managing and supervising concrete pours of less than 25 cubic yards.
  • Follow both oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Comfortable working at heights.
  • Familiarity with tools such as rubber boots, buckets, hand floats, trowels, and edgers.
  • Depend on established guidelines and instructions to perform job functions.
  • Physical demands include:
    • Lifting and carrying weights as required.
    • Standing and walking for extended periods.
    • Carrying tools and equipment.
    • Stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for prolonged durations.
    • Performing tasks in various weather conditions.

Education and Experience:

  • Preferred Experience: 3-5 years in concrete work and a minimum of 2 years in related construction roles.
  • Completion of Siema Safety Training Course.
  • Participation in Employee/Safety Orientation.
  • Ongoing Education Certifications.
  • Flagger Certification.
  • Training in Small Tools, including care and safety.
  • Introduction to Equipment Course.
  • Advanced Concrete Principles knowledge.
  • Basic Plan Reading skills.
