About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Animal Care Supervisor to join our team at Petco. As a key member of our Companion Animal Department, you will be responsible for driving sales and ensuring the effective operation of our aquatics, reptile, bird, and small companion animals department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accountable for driving sales and achieving budgeted sales goals, gross margin, animal and merchandise shrink targets, managing inventory levels, supply cost, reported budgeted expense rates, and budgeted contribution.
  • Responsible for the welfare of all live animals and merchandise within the department, ensuring their health, proper handling, and documentation according to Petco's policies and procedures.
  • Directly supervise the Aquatics Specialist(s), lead and coach all store partners in providing great guest service and performing their assigned tasks to achieve budgeted sales.
  • Ensure all supply back stock is worked daily and all other department back stock a minimum of three times per week.
  • Responsible for proper ordering of live animals to maximize sales, margin, and inventory, analyzing inventory management data for the department and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure OSE standards are maintained in the department, providing training and coaching in GUEST and product knowledge to partners daily on the sales floor and on an ongoing basis.
Requirements
  • Directly supervise all Aquatics partners, providing guidance and training to partners, and completing performance evaluations for partners.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and standing for long periods of time.
  • Provide quick and courteous service to all guests by utilizing the GUEST Model throughout the store, ensuring OSE standards are maintained throughout the store.
