Job Summary

The successful candidate will manage projects and staff, oversee quality control and technical standards, contribute to business development, and drive overall department success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full lifecycle of geotechnical engineering projects, ensuring adherence to geotechnical engineering best practices, safety standards, and quality control procedures.
  • Lead a team of geotechnical engineers, geologists, project managers, and technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure team success.
  • Perform technical review of proposals, reports, and calculations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Track department budget, revenue, forecasts, and financial performance, making informed decisions to drive business growth.
  • Set goals for the geotechnical group and develop staff skills through training initiatives, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Assist senior staff with business development efforts through community involvement and client engagement, identifying new opportunities and partnerships.
  • Promote company values, positive culture, and high employee engagement, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in civil/geotechnical engineering, with a proven track record of leadership and technical expertise.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of geotechnical engineering concepts and applications, with a strong understanding of industry standards and best practices.
  • Proven track record of managing budgets, forecasts, and P&L responsibilities, with a focus on financial management and analysis.
  • Business development experience engaging clients and winning projects, with a strong understanding of market trends and competitor analysis.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical conditions and construction industry, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance.
  • BS in Civil Engineering or Geological Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university, with a preferred MS in Civil Engineering with geotechnical emphasis.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) preferred, with the ability to obtain licensure within three months of hire required.
