Responsibilities and Requirements

CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION
  • ASSESSMENT: Evaluate and devise remedial strategies for students with speech and language challenges
  • INTERVENTION: Deliver remedial services for speech issues such as stuttering, voice disorders, and articulation, as well as speech difficulties linked to impairments
  • LESSON PLANS: Maintain a comprehensive plan book of daily instruction based on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), along with contingency plans for unforeseen circumstances
  • OBJECTIVES: Establish and communicate clear objectives for each lesson to students and parents, including related projects and activities
  • INSTRUCTION: Guide students with speech challenges in developing effective speech habits
  • CONSULTATION: Advise teachers, parents, and students on support techniques to facilitate social and psychological adjustment related to speech disorders
  • COMPLIANCE: Develop IEPs and maintain all necessary records for adherence to educational regulations
STAFF PERSONNEL
  • MEETINGS: Participate in staff meetings and district training programs
  • COMMITTEES: Contribute to committees as requested
  • SCHOOL ACTIVITIES: Be accountable for fulfilling instructional and non-instructional school-related responsibilities
  • SUPERVISION & EVALUATION: Oversee, assess, and assign tasks to teacher aides, therapists, student teachers, and/or volunteers
  • TEAM MEMBER: Engage as a contributing member in group decision-making and foster a positive, collaborative environment
STUDENT PERSONNEL
  • EVALUATION: Regularly assess and document individual student progress; justify promotions, retentions, and recommendations for special programs
  • HEALTH & WELFARE: Identify and refer unusual student behaviors to appropriate specialists; report any injuries or illnesses to the nurse
  • DISCIPLINE: Enforce the approved discipline plan within the building
  • SUPERVISION: Ensure the supervision of students at all times
OPERATION
  • POLICIES & REGULATIONS: Familiarize and comply with Board policies and regulations
  • PUPIL ATTENDANCE & TARDINESS: Maintain accurate records of student attendance
  • TEACHER ABSENCE: Notify administration in accordance with district policy
  • BOOKS & SUPPLIES: Manage school and district property as required
  • PHYSICAL PLANT: Promptly inform administration of necessary repairs, replacements, or unsafe conditions
  • COMPLETION OF DAILY DUTIES: Remain on-site after student dismissal as needed to fulfill daily responsibilities, attend meetings, and conduct parent conferences
  • EMERGENCY PROCEDURES: Adhere to school regulations regarding emergency protocols
  • ATTENDANCE: Report to work daily at assigned times and remain until the designated end of the workday
FINANCE/BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
  • RECOMMENDATIONS: Responsible for submitting and justifying recommendations to the Building Principal or designee
SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS
  • PARENT CONFERENCES: Meet with parents as necessary to discuss student needs and progress
  • INTERPRETATION: Clarify school policies and programs to students and parents
OTHER
  • HEALTH: Responsible for performing duties that ensure the health and safety of students and staff
  • OTHER DUTIES: Perform additional job-related responsibilities as assigned by the Building Principal
