Trauma Injury Prevention and Outreach Registered Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled Trauma Injury Prevention and Outreach Registered Nurse to join our team at Health First Medical Group. As a key member of our trauma team, you will play a critical role in increasing community awareness and elevating regional outcomes through data collection and injury prevention programs.
Key Responsibilities- Review trauma data from hospitals and communities to identify patterns and injury risk factors for prevention strategy.
- Implement alcohol screening procedures to identify patients with alcohol abuse problems in line with standards set by medical bodies.
- Identify suitable funding sources to support the injury prevention strategy and carry out the application process.
- Collaborate with Health First Marketing and Communications Teams to maintain and update social media presence, including the trauma website, Trauma Blog, and external social media apps.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary research on injury prevention aimed at reducing identified injuries by collecting and submitting data to various local, state, and national committees.
- Act as a subject matter expert for Health First Marketing and Communications Teams for media communications and public service announcements related to injury prevention education.
- Monitor compliance with trauma protocols, policies, and procedures.
- In collaboration with the Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator, perform concurrent and retrospective case reviews to identify variances in trauma care.
- Round daily on patients admitted with Falls to provide Fall Prevention information.
- Plan and track injury prevention activities, including participating in Bicycle Helmet Distribution at least six times per year.
- Plan and track community education teaching, including TNCC, ATLS, Stop the Bleed, and Fall Prevention.
- Current State of Florida RN license or endorsement.
- Certification: Must have or must obtain within six months of hire/transfer and maintain TNCC Instructor Certification, ATLS Coordinator Certification, Registered Stop the Bleed Instructor, and TSN Coordinator.
- Work Experience: RN with a minimum of three years of experience in Emergency Dept. or ICU or Trauma or Critical Care at a designated Trauma Center.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Proficiency with the Electronic Medical Record, proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), ability to work flexible hours and days, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to respond appropriately and compassionately to life-threatening and stressful situations, initiative and ability to manage and prioritize multiple demands and meet deadlines, and ability to network with internal and community partners.
- Education: BSN.
- Work Experience: Five years of RN experience in a Level I/II Trauma Center.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Highly developed verbal and non-verbal communication skills, ability to navigate and document in the Trauma Registry NQS, experience in the planning and implementation of education and training for patients, caregivers, professionals, community groups, and hospital associates, and experience with assessment and treatment of PTSD and acute stress symptoms caused by injury.
- Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping.
- Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
- Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
- May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to moderate noise.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
- Workspace may vary from open to confined, onsite, or remote.
- May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
