Division: Fleet Maintenance

General Overview

In this role, you will work under limited supervision to conduct maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a diverse range of gasoline and diesel vehicles as well as heavy machinery. You will collaborate with the Fleet Superintendent to prioritize repairs, oversee work quality, uphold standards, mentor fellow mechanics, and manage the workflow within the shop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and software from various manufacturers to identify equipment issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and operate shop machinery.
  • Provide wrecker services and maintain accurate service records.
  • Ensure the upkeep of the maintenance facility, tools, and equipment.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma with two (2) years of vocational or technical training in automotive, diesel, or mechanical repair.
Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years in a mechanic role, including five (5) years as a heavy or diesel mechanic.
Certifications:
  • Valid commercial driver's license.
  • Forklift operation certification.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Training or certification specific to manufacturers (e.g., Ford, Caterpillar, Cummins).
  • ASE certification.
  • Experience with computerized diagnostic and maintenance management systems.

Physical Demands

Must be capable of operating various tools and machinery, including trucks, welding machines, and automotive test equipment. The role requires the ability to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to twenty-five pounds frequently, and/or up to ten pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. The ability to lift and/or carry weights ranging from ten to one hundred pounds is essential.
